Overview
arXiv:2610.29205v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Neural network models are increasingly constructed from synapse-resolution connectomes, and the same circuit is now available in reconstructions from other animals and pipelines. We do not know whether such models are dependent on the reconstruction they are built from, and whether connectome differences are biological or measurement errors. We studied the Drosophila head-direction circuit in nine versions: four flies (male CNS, hemibrain, Fly Wire, BANC) and five variants of the same fly varying only by thresholds, proofreading or synapse detection. Using wiring-based correspondences validated by anatomical labels, we place all differences on one scale. A change of synapse detection within one fly changed the circuit more than halfway to the smallest inter-fly difference on four distances; proofreading differences were smaller but depended on the metric, and left and right halves of one fly differed no more than a random half. Networks trained on each wiring to hold a cued heading developed near-perfect ring attractors, but their error increased from below 1 degree to 10-28 degrees when all weights changed by 1%. Training on each wiring did not transfer to any other connectome, including other versions of the same fly; refitting thirty cell-type gains, we repaired filtering-level differences but remaining error depended on wiring distance. Training with noise lowered precision and enhanced transfer. Imaging data indicate compasses drift smoothly and do not break; they function despite differences comparable to those of this study. Therefore, connectome-constrained models need to reflect the reconstruction they stem from and the robustness normal circuits exhibit and models lack.

arXiv:2610.28637v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Disaggregated \textsc{LLM} serving separates prefill and decode across node pools, placing a network fabric between \textsc{KV}-cache computation and consumption. This breaks a key assumption of classical cache policies: a miss no longer incurs only local recomputation, but also network transfer to the decode node.
arXiv:2610.28707v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: When training LLMs to code with reinforcement learning, reward hacking is often detectable but difficult to prevent, since (a) environment hardening is increasingly difficult as training environments grow more complex; and (b) training-time interventions incentivize models to obfuscate hacking behavior to bypass detection.
arXiv:2610.28673v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: We study the 305M-parameter audio encoder shared by Gemma 4 and EmbeddingGemma 2 (identical except for its final projection) for Saudi and Gulf Arabic speech recognition, without changing any of its weights.
